The Future of Mobile OS
“With the incredible strides being made in the mobile world, one can’t help but to ask whether or not these trimmed-down operating systems may be heading in a direction that could replace what we currently know as a desktop OS.” (Pirillo, 2011) Check out this video of Chris Pirillo's thoughts on mobile OS replacing desktop OS.

It seems like with every software
update our phones are able to do more and more things. Comparing my iPhone 5 to
my first Motorola flip phone it is quite easy to say that technology has come
so far in such a short amount of time; so much so that it’s hard to even think
of what we’ll be able to do with our phones next. With this being said it’s
easy to understand why some people believe that we won’t need desktop operating
systems anymore, and that we’ll be able to do everything from our phones.
Imagine coming home from work and plugging your phone into a dock that links to
a larger screen, keyboard, and other input devices; how much more convenient
would that make your life? (Pirillo,
2011)
Overall, there is too much
competition in the operating system industry to really know exactly what
companies are going to create in the future; but by taking a look at the
technological developments we’ve experienced in the last decade it’s easy to
say that the possibilities are endless.
Would you prefer
if you could do everything from your mobile phone rather than using a computer?
Let us know your preference and why!
